SiteOpens
Tent under a starry sky at a remote campsite

Catch the second a site opens.

We watch Recreation.gov for cancellations and ping you. You book. We never touch the reservation.

How it works

Three steps. The reservation stays yours.

  1. Pick a place and dates

Choose a campground or permit, your stay window, and what counts as a match.

  2. We watch for openings

SiteOpens checks Recreation.gov on a schedule for cancellations that fit your watch.

  3. We ping. You take it.

When a matching site opens, we ping you. You finish the reservation on Recreation.gov.

What we watch

Cancellations put sold-out sites back in play. We start on Recreation.gov, then add state parks and Parks Canada.

  • First live source

    Recreation.gov

Federal campgrounds, day-use permits, and wilderness itineraries — plus timed-entry where Recreation.gov runs the inventory.

  • Next adapters

    State park systems

Sold-out state parks on vendors like ReserveAmerica / Aspira, ReserveCalifornia, and other state portals as each adapter ships.

  • Next adapters

    Parks Canada

National park campgrounds and permits across Canada — same alerts-only model, separate availability API.

Inventory types

  • Campgrounds
  • Day-use & timed-entry permits
  • Multi-day itinerary permits

Common questions

Straight answers — the same ones we publish for search.

Does SiteOpens book campsites for me?

No. SiteOpens only sends alerts. You complete the reservation yourself on Recreation.gov.

What does SiteOpens watch?

SiteOpens starts with Recreation.gov campgrounds and permits, then expands to state park reservation systems and Parks Canada. We look for cancellations that match your watch criteria.

Is a site guaranteed when I get an alert?

No. Cancellations are unpredictable and openings can be rebooked quickly. An alert means a matching slot appeared — not that it will still be available when you check out.

How much does SiteOpens cost?

You can start free with email alerts. Paid plans will raise how many places you can watch and how often we check for openings. SMS will ship on paid plans.

Is SiteOpens affiliated with Recreation.gov?

No. SiteOpens is not affiliated with Recreation.gov or the U.S. government. You always book on the official site under your own account.

Do you sell or share my data?

No. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or partners for their marketing or products. Companies we hire to host the site or send alerts you asked for may process only what they need to run SiteOpens — not a customer list for their own use.

Alerts only. No games.

SiteOpens does not book, hold, or check out on Recreation.gov. Cancellations are unpredictable — we send the signal; we do not guarantee a site will still be open when you arrive at checkout.

  • You always complete the reservation under your own account.
  • We only use your email to deliver alerts you asked for. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or partners.
  • Policies in plain language — Terms, Privacy, and FAQ.
